Savers and a Death-show (Entry 16)

This post has been removed for the novel's debut in April, 2012 . . .

Elisa isn't your regular nerd.  She's not the kind of person who quotes Monty Python, or has a periodic table tattooed on her butt.  No she's a different sort altogether.  She carries a duct-taped Bible everywhere, wears bright-orange polyester pants, and dyes her hair with red kool-aid.
Even though she tries slipping by apart from the crowds, it doesn't help that her best friend happens to be "The Boarder," one of the cutest and most popular boys in school.  He's not willing to let her go unnoticed—not until she goes to the homecoming dance with another guy.
"The Boarder" starts acting weird after the date goes well, and Elisa begins wondering if he's only been looking at her as a friend or maybe something more.  She must choose between her best friend and "The Bad Boy," but will she make the right choice?

  1. This made me sad and happy at the same time. The problem with most churches is that the people forget what and who they are there for. I've told you what I do the first time I walk into a church.:) I think Christians need to remember that line from Casting Crowns. If we are the church why aren't his arms reaching?
I knew I loved Romi for some reason! :)

  2. Don't you feel like you were promoting others to sin...

  3. Well I for one think you made a wonderful Hag.Remember that song, True Colors by Cyndi Lauper? Maybe more people should stop thinking about what color to be and just let them shine in their own true colors. Maybe church is not the best place for rainbows, to much stained glass. I loved this post and look forward to your first real date. Does that mean he kisses you?ooooooooo can't wait!

ps. clean out your cookies so your blog shows up posted :)

Stephanie- Thanks. Oh and your blog was sooo awesome today :0)

    Dear Anonymous,

Maybe I was. I read your comment and I've been thinking about it all morning. Sometimes youth spawns spontaneous brilliance--moments that truly test the limits of our rational--and other times it can create illogical decisions that will hurt ourselves and others. I'm still not sure if what I did was right, but I do know that I learned from it. In fact I'm still learning from it.

Moments like this one made me compassionate and empathetic to people in need no matter what they look or dress like. So, was I promoting sin? Maybe I was, but I was young and at least I can say that I learned from the whole situation and I hope others can learn for it as well.

  6. Oh...the depth of this post goes so much deeper than what we see. Thank you so much for sharing. I have tried to pay attention to the seeds I plant for a really long time. I resolved to plant good seeds in peoples lives; knowing that I may never be the one to watch them grow, and trusting that they will be watered. I thank God that I've had the opportunity to see you in "Full bloom. " :-)

  7. Loved your reply to Anonymous- very thoughtful.

And thank you for the compliment on my post today. My friend, Tracy, wrote a funny piece about mowing her lawn that I wanted to share with you. She's new to blogging. We used to live in the same city, but she's a little farther out now. Friends for 13 years! I've told her to check you out as well (and Melynda, of course).

  11. WOW, again not quite the way i remember it, but.... memories are kinda a funny thing. promoting sin? huh.. don't think i personally believe in the word sin like others do, it usually seems to be a way for "PEOPLE" to give themselves authority to Judge one another, or themselves.. but everyone's hearts aren't in the same place. and for the cigarette? i thought u pulled it out of my mouth and lit it up =P haha!

  12. Smoking Socrates-

I totally should have taken the smoke, especially since I don't have tonsils. I had nothing to fear.

Too bad smoking isn't my thing LOL!
