Elisa isn't your regular nerd. She's not the kind of person who quotes Monty Python, or has a periodic table tattooed on her butt. No she's a different sort altogether. She carries a duct-taped Bible everywhere, wears bright-orange polyester pants, and dyes her hair with red kool-aid.
Even though she tries slipping by apart from the crowds, it doesn't help that her best friend happens to be "The Boarder," one of the cutest and most popular boys in school. He's not willing to let her go unnoticed—not until she goes to the homecoming dance with another guy.
"The Boarder" starts acting weird after the date goes well, and Elisa begins wondering if he's only been looking at her as a friend or maybe something more. She must choose between her best friend and "The Bad Boy," but will she make the right choice?

Enjoyed the story and it reminded me of a conversation I just had with someone about similar personal issues, so it hit close to home especially when I told my friend, "You have to love yourself, before you can love anyone else."
ReplyDeleteAh huney girl I know this was hard for you to write. This is jammed packed full of hurtful things that happened to you before you even met Cade and that kind of hurt doesn't go away easily. I will say this though as I know the rest of the story, you and Cade are two wonderful loving people. You have grown so much since then, and yet there is still a trace of that hurt little girl.
ReplyDeleteI love you my sunshine friend. I thank God for you every day.
I'm so sorry that your past haunted you that way. Treasure and nurture that little girl in you every moment you get. She had the courage to grow up and become you...strong, amazing you.
ReplyDeleteI think I dislike Hades at least as much as the vamps! Are you sure he wasn't one of them? It takes a lot of courage to write this and I know it was very hard for you. I love you dearly. Chin up! I will be keeping track of you while I am on my trip.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and touching. Sharing your heart and stripping it bare like that is a act of courage that I for one have seldom seen, You constantly amaze me and I am so honored to be a part of your world even if it is for just a few moments in a day.
ReplyDeleteThese comments have meant the world to me. It's crazy how hard it is writing this section of the story. I guess it's good for me though--like free therapy . . .
ReplyDeleteI could feel your fear and pain. Oh, girl. How hard this was to pour onto paper.
