I'm so excited today because it's FISHDUCKY FRIDAY!
You're gonna love it, so without further adieu, here's the famous Fishducky:
I know you’re expecting something funny from me.
This isn’t laugh out loud funny—although I hope it will make you smile.
It’s an editorial written last Christmas by my granddaughter, who is a high school senior in Connecticut.
I hope it will give you some insight as to what it’s like to be a member of my family.
Besides, a grandmother likes to brag a little!
that's really nice. especially when it comes from younger family members.
ReplyDeletethat's what i aim for my kids/my family...
It's wonderful when your family enjoys each other not only when they're little kids but also when they grow up!
DeleteThanks for the smile Fishducky.
ReplyDeleteShe sure pitched the gatherings as a place that I would want to hang out and laugh.
You're very welcome!
DeleteIt did make me smile!! Fishducky Fridays are going to be great :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to them, too!
DeleteSounds a lot more fun than some of my family gatherings. :)
ReplyDeleteOn a side note "we've probably made fun of you at some point or another" hmm, no wonder my ears have been ringing.
Great guest post! I look forward to next friday.
I wasn't sure that was YOU---sorry!
DeleteThe gatherings sure sound like a lot of fun and yeah no matter how ridiculous one may be, nice to have a few that don't think you are completely off your rocker..haha
ReplyDeleteSome of haven't even been able to FIND our rockers for years!
DeleteThe apple doesn't fall far from the tree. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have 4 grandchildren--at least 3 of whom I believe to be my clones.
DeleteFishducky Fridays off to a great start :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Coming back next week?
DeleteThat was so sweet and wonderfully written! I can easily tell she's a member of your family fishducky!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Happy Birthday according to your Grandma Elisa! ;)
Yep--for better or worse, she's one of us!
DeleteThat is such a great letter. Cheshire CT? I am from Hartford CT area. My granddaughters are in South Windsor. You must be so proud.
ReplyDeleteYes--& I AM proud!
DeleteI think it's great when family members are not only be related but friends too. It's a good thing.:)
ReplyDeleteShe & my L.A. granddaughter are the same age & best friends!
DeleteYou made me smile for sure! I loved this piece and think your grandaughter is witty and fun. I live in CT- so I was excited to see a town nearby! I think it is awaesome that your family "is the party" and I have had my mouth washed out with soap- it's not too bad. :) Keep having fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat flavor soap?
DeleteThat was just great. Sometimes people seem shocked when I tell them that I'm friends with all six of my siblings lol...but I couldn't imagine it any other way! Blood is thicker than water and I love that my siblings are also my best friends. What a great story, thanks for sharing it and TGIF!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMay it last that way forever!
DeleteWhat a fab letter and a fab family. I've only been away from here for a day or two and you re-decorate lol. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteThe credit for redecoration all goes to Elisa. Isn't it teriffic?
DeleteVery well written. I am often told that my behavior is inappropriate. I find it's the best way to have fun. Congratulations to you fishducky, for having such a cool grandchild. And Elisa, I like your new background. I find it easier to read. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Obviously, the "best" people find appropriate behavior boring!
DeletePrecious perspectives! She must be a delight in your life!
ReplyDeleteOh. YES!!
DeleteYour granddaughter sounds awesome. As does the rest of your family.
ReplyDeleteMy family's not as loud and embarrassing in public but still just as fun and loving (the ones I see up here in Washington are Italian, after all ;)). Such a nice feeling :)
She is--& they are!! (And, of course, this statement was written with absolutely NO bias.)
DeleteWhat a talented grandkid. Fishduckies for everyone!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the world could handle too many more fishduckies!
DeleteThanks again for doing fishducky Friday. This is so fun. ;)
ReplyDeleteNo, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteI can tell I like your family already;) This is fun to have fishducky Friday! Is this going to be a regular thing?
ReplyDeleteAs long as Elisa lets me do it!!
DeleteI hope my blog will always have a Fishducky Friday ;)
ReplyDeleteDear Fishducky,
ReplyDeleteAll these comments are saving what I'm feeling. Which is, how happy I am that there is going to be a "Fishducky" posting each Friday on Elisa's blog. As one of the commentors said, "The acorn doesn't fall far rom the tree."
Your granddaughter writes so well. I could hear the laughter of your family in her words. What a wonderful job you and your husband have done in raising your family.
Peace.
The job that Bud & I did in raising our family consisted of about 80% love--& AT LEAST 20% luck!
DeleteLove your granddaughter's editorial. I also love the holdidays and heartwarming get-togethers with my family.;)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy them! Family (& by that I also mean anybody you love who also loves you) is the most important thing there is!
DeleteWhat a marvellously mature and balanced outlook she has!
ReplyDeleteShe obviously gets her maturity from me--& pigs CAN fly!!
ReplyDeleteThis family is funny, very funny, but they are also goodness personified. I am blessed to know some of them and they have been my husband's friends forever. The first attribute to them from me would be kindness to all. A family with huge hearts who are crazy funny! It doesn't get much better than that and Lisa is blessed many times over as she begins her journey into adulthood.
ReplyDeleteYou are very kind, my "new/old" friend!!
DeleteHave a SUPER week, Elisabeth!
